low: 56 dewpoint: wind: e 3-7 mph saturday: mostly sunny. angelica adlibs traffic red on traffic map = major delays yellow on traffic map = some delays green on traffic map = no delays hurricane hermaine made landfall in flr overnight...but the storm has since been downgraded to a tropical storm. tropical storm warnings remain in effect for parts of the florida gulf coast, georgia...and up through north carolina. kim joins us with the latest. when the storm made landfall overnight -- hermine was the first hurricane to hit florida in more than a decade. the storm was originally packing about 80 mile per hour winds...but the maximum wind speeds are now down closer to 75 miles per hour. the storm also bringing some heavy rain and flooding.

flooding. chief meteorologist rob haswell will have more on the storm coming up on wakeup. milwaukee police chief ed flynn...announcing a record number of homicides this august 24 people were killed. deandra corinthios is live from mpd headquarters downtown with more chief flynn says 80 percent of the city's homicides are due to gun violence. he says the majority of victims...and offenders...are african american. in a new conference thursday. despite being a much smaller city...milwaukee's murder rate topped chicago's for the month of august...a city that also experienced a record number of homicides. there were 24 people killed in milwaukee ...5 during the unrest in sherman park. august in milwaukee was the deadliest month the city has seen in 25 years... when police discovered the bodies of jeffery dahmer's victims in july of 1991. flynn says most homicides stem from arguments...fights and

choose to resolve their issue with guns. making you know conceal carry illegally a misdemeanor no matter how many times youre arrested is foolish, its foolhardy. and its absolutely contributing to the levels of violence here in this city flynn says officers have taken 1600 guns off the streets so far this year. but he says there should be tougher penalties for felons caught in possession of a firearm. he also says a big issue is getting cooperation from the community in non-fatal shootings. reporting live in milwaukee deandra corinthios fox6 news. milwaukee police chief ed flynn compared milwaukee to chicago during yesterday's press conference...saying milwaukee had a higher homicide rate. here's a closer look at those numbers. in august-- milwaukee had 24 homicides. chicago had 90. but when you compare those numbers based on population-- milwaukee's homicide rate per 100- thousand people was 4. chicago's was 3 point 3. you'll remember -- milwaukee's common council released a public safety action plan a few weeks ago.

it. protesters ended up crashing their meeting yesterday morning. "what do we do? stand up, fight back!" they say this plan focuses too much on law and order -- and not enough on creating opportunities for people. "nothing about job creation, nothing about community engagement, nothing about pouring into youth leadership development - nothing to uplift the community." "we agree that economic development, job creation, those are all important things. but this particular entirely to the criminal justice system." common council president ashanti hamilton says the plan can still be amended. there will also be public feedback meetings -- but those details are still being finalized. two milwaukee mothers are demanding justice -- mourning their sons -- killed while riding their motorcycles last month. 25-year-old "deangelo maxwell" and 36-year-old "james morris"

the driver who struck them was initially arrested. according to the medical examiner there were open bottles of alcohol in his truck. but two days after the crash -- he was released from custody. last night a crowd gathered to remember the men. then supporters marched about half a mile to the county safety building to demand the district attorney charge the suspect. they say they won't rest until they get the justice the victims deserve. the milwaukee county district attorney's office says the case is still under review. a game changer for patients medical breakthrough that could help prevent dementia. hermine makes landfall overnight in florida. it has since been downgraded to a tropical storm. yet it still poses a severe threat. where it's headed to next. after serving just three months of his six months sentence -- convicted rapist brock turner will be released from jail. why

a child welfare agency has begun an investigation into anthony weiner. and the former stanford university swimmer who was sentenced to jail for sexually assaulting a girl will be released today. kim is in the newsroom with more. protests are expected today when brock turner is released from jail...after only serving 3 of his six months sentence behind bars. he was convicted of rap fraternity house in 2015. the former stanford university swimmer will be released early, under a law that gives inmates credit for time served. it's the sentence that made headlines for its leniency...and prompted immense blowback against judge aaron persky. turner must register as a sex offender for life. and more trouble for anthony weiner. the former new york congressman is now being investigated by a child welfare agency.. he confirmed to the "new york

authorities in florida have found the zika virus in trapped mosquitoes-- the first time this has happened in the continental u-s. three mosquitoes from miami beach have tested positive. the state calls the development disappointing, but not surprising. the number of non-travel-related zika infections has grown to 47 in first case was identified just over a month ago. intensive trapping and testing continues. and a medical breakthrough could be a game-changer for patients suffering from alzheimer's disease. scientists have found a way to clear plaques from the brain, that cause dementia. they say patients treated with the highest dose of a new antibody drug... saw the plaque almost completely disappear. scientists also found that after six months of treatment, patients' health stopped deteriorating.

and of those 75, only 55 players were available to play in the final preseason game in kansas city tonight. it takes the packers a little while to get started, but on their 4th drive things click as joe callahan finds jared clark in the endzone for the score and the packers take a 7-0 lead late in the 1st quarter. the packers defense, however, can't keep the chiefs off the board after tying the game at 7, they take a 14-7 lead when darrin reaves scores from 3 yards out in the 2nd quarter. charlie pierce fumbles deep inside kansas city territory and the packers lose the ball. the defense steps up after that, datone jones with the sack that nearly was a safety forcing a kansas city punt. but the pack would trail by 10 at the half. in the 3rd quarter, the chiefs were driving until rookie josh hawkins picks off aaron murray at the green bay 17. it's his 2nd pick of the preseason.
